Home Power Service
Rate Schedule HP-10
AVAILABILITY
Available in all territory served by the Cooperative within the State of North Carolina and subject to the Cooperative's established Service Rules and Regulations.
APPLICABILITY
Applicable for residential service to homes which have an alternative power source for continuous use to supply some or most of the electrical needs of the home. Such alternative power source could be solar, micro-hydro, fuel cell, wind, or other. This rate schedule is not available for commercial, industrial, emergency, or standby generation service. This rate schedule is also not available for small power producers under the Public Utilities Regulatory Policies Act (PURPA).
The member must demonstrate to the satisfaction of the Cooperative that the alternative energy system in his or her home will not back feed onto the Cooperative's system during a utility power outage, and must show proof that the system has been inspected and approved by the electrical inspector having legal jurisdiction.
TYPE OF SERVICE
Single-phase, 60 hertz, at available secondary voltages.
RATE
$10.00 per month Basic Facilities Charge
8.9 cent per KWH for all KWH
CHARGES
The minimum monthly charge shall be $10.00 per month where 50 KVA or less transformer capacity is requried. For members requiring more than 50 KVA of transformer capacity, the minimum monthly charge shall be increased at the rate of $1.00 per each additional KVA or fraction thereof required.
If the Cooperative determines that the Home Power account will be or is likely to be a net producer of energy in one or more months during the year, such Home Power meters will be read once annually and all kilowatt hours will be billed at that time. Those charges will be paid in addition to the $10.00 per month basic facilities charge.
If the member is a net producer of electrical energy (annual meter reading is less that previous years reading), then the Cooperative will manually adjust the member's annual bill to take into account the net producer status of the member's account. This adjustment will allow the member to keep the net energy delivered to the Cooperative into the succeeding year, and the Cooperative will bill the member the $10.00 basic facilities charge for that month plus a $50.00 administrative fee to cover the Cooperative's cost of special handling of the account.
If the Cooperative determines that the Home Power account will be a net user of electrical energy each month, then the meter will be read each month and the member will be billed in accordance with the "Rate" section of this schedule.
WHOLESALE POWER AND FUEL COST ADJUSTMENT
The above charges may be adjusted in accordance with the Cooperative's cost of purchased power and fuel adjustment charges in the wholesale rate.
NOTE: During the winter months of December through March, Home Power members will remain on the same rate as above, but will receive an additional credit of $0.00471 per KWH, or $4.71 per 1000 KWH, incorporated in the monthly Purchased Power and Fuel Adjustment portion of their bill. The amount of this credit will be averaged with the fuel adjustment for the remaining eight months of the year and will be applied to the Home Power member's annual bill. The amount of this credit will be reviewed annually by the Board of Directors.
LOCAL SALES TAX
Where applicable, local sales taxes shall be applied.
