FBEMC COVID-19 Updates|
June 1, 2020 - Latest
On May 30th, Governor Roy Cooper signed Executive Order No. 142 to extend the prohibition of utility shut-offs. As a result of this order, French Broad EMC will continue to suspend non-payment disconnection procedures and late fees until August 3rd 2020. We continue to work with each member on an individual basis to set up payment arrangements to minimize the financial impact this suspension will have on them down the road when collection procedures resume. Please contact your local FBEMC office to set up arrangements.

March 30, 2020
North Carolina governor Roy Cooper has ordered a statewide "Stay at Home" order beginning Monday March 30th, 2020 and lasting for 30 days. FBEMC recognizes the hardship this will place on many of our members, especially those who can no longer work. Our primary goal is to make sure everyone is safe and comfortable during this time, therefore FBEMC will suspend non-payment disconnections and we will also waive late fees until May 4th for residential customers. This will also give the government stimulus package time get to our members.
Even though disconnections for non-payment are suspended until May 4th, 2020, FBEMC will still be reading each meter and send bills with reminders. We encourage everyone to pay their bill so they do not get too far behind when this period is over. We will continue to work with each member to help them catch up once disconnects resume June 1st. We also encourage any member who is past due to call their district office (Bakersville: 688-4815, Burnsville: 682-6121, Marshall: 649-2051) and set up payment arrangements. Together we will all get through this!
